Man back in custody after escaping from Exuma police station

A 23-year-old Exuma resident is back in custody after he escaped from a police station in Exuma earlier this week.

According to reports, 23-year-old Veandro Rahjiv Ferguson, of Forest Exuma, escaped lawful custody on Monday while being held at the George Town Police Station.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Stephen Dean confirmed that the 23-year-old turned himself into police shortly before 2pm yesterday.

Ferguson was arrested for unlawful sexual intercourse.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Stephen Dean said police have also launched an internal investigation to determine how the suspect managed to leave the station undetected.

He said “jobs are on the line” but “no one has been suspended at this point”.

Ferguson is said to have brown skin, slim build, and an estimated height of 5’ 9”.

Investigations are ongoing.
