VOLLEYBALL

NPVA FINALS

THE New Providence Volleyball Association kicked off its best-of-five championship series on Sunday at the DW Davis Gymnasium.

In the ladies’ opener, the defending champions Scottsdale Vixens pulled off a 25-21, 25-18, 16-25, 26-24 and 15-13 win over the College of the Bahamas Lady Caribs.

In the men’s feature contest, the Technicians defeated the ScotiaBank Defenders 25-27, 16-25, 29-27, 25-22 and 15-10.

ROAD RACE

UNCLE LOU MEMORIAL

On the occasion of the 82nd Anniversary of the birth of Deacon Leviticus “ Uncle Lou” Adderley and the 70th Anniversary of St. Augustine’s College, the St. Augustine’s College Alumni Association (SACA) is hosting the eighth version of its annual road race on 14th March beginning at 5am in Rawson Square.

The race is from Rawson Square to SAC and it is the only one of its kind that encompasses the three disciplines of running, walking and cycling. This year’s Routes are:

RACE ROUTES

Runners - Rawson Square to the first bridge. Over the bridge. Return via the second bridge. East on East Bay to Montaque. Montaque to Village Road. Village Road to Bernard Road. Bernard Road to SAC. Once over the hill in SAC, runners go onto the track. Halfway around the track exiting at the southern end onto Lower Campus. Past the cafeteria up the hill by the bookstore to the finish line in front of SAC administration building.

Walkers - All the above minus the bridges and the SAC track. Walkers can also participate in a relay with the following exchange locations -

1st Leg Rawson Square to Mackey Street.

2nd Leg - Mackey Street to Montaque/ Village Road.

3rd Leg - Village Road to Bernard Road.

4th Leg - Bernard Road to SAC administration building.

Cycle - Rawson Square east on Bay to East Bay St. To Montaque. Follow East Bay Street to Yamacraw. Turn onto Prince Charles Drive. West on Prince Charles Drive to SAC entrance. Enter SAC grounds. Follow the road and proceed up the main hill. Turn right and proceed past the Monastery and go downhill. Follow the road and turn left and come uphill and down to the finish line in front of SAC Administration building.

There is a registration fee of $20 per person. However, for groups of 25 persons or more, the registration fee is $10 per person.

AWARDS BANQUET

THE Commonwealth American Football League has announced that its first Legends Awards Banquet will be held on Sunday at 3 pm at the Crab House on Collins Avenue.
