A GRAND Bahama pastor has been suspended from ministering and his church has been closed pending the outcome of police investigations into a sexual complaint.

The pastor, who is accused of having sexual relations with a teen, was questioned by police and released last week. The police have completed their investigation and have forwarded the file to the Office of the Attorney General for a decision.

The Tribune has learned that the pastor has complied with a request for his resignation by the district overseer of the church, who read his letter to church members.

In the letter, the pastor apologised to the church concerning the rumours and allegation against him and the embarrassment caused to the church.

The district overseer told church members that the clergyman’s pastoral appointment has been immediately revoked and that his ministerial licence has been suspended pending the outcome of the investigation.

He also announced that the church, which was built on property owned by the pastor, has been closed and the church’s denomination signage has been removed from the property.

“A person is presumed innocent until proven guilty, and the final decision will be made when the entire process is completed,” the district overseer said.
