Prices are out of control

EDITOR, The Tribune.

The price of bread has jumped recently, but for the fuel they use to bake the bread at Purity Bakery and LPG Gas, the purchase price has decreased. Does this make sense?

I listened to the new Commissioner for Consumer Affairs, who seems to be concentrating on the usual creating a mega-sized commission (hundreds of employees) and by his own admission a lot of regulations.

Sir, focus on the basics and get it right.

Grocery items have no reason to jump $1 to $2 between Monday of one week and the following Monday. They do!

Our gasoline prices are double those of the US and, bless our gasoline companies, they purchase from the US or off the stock transshipment of Grand Bahama.

Mr Commissioner, you do not need a fancy office, $2,000 director chairs and big board tables ... just two legs that can walk. It is as simple as that.

Build a good rapport with retailers and wholesalers and cause pricing which is sensible.

The economic policy's of this government are squarely to blame for price increases. What did you expect when they introduced VAT?
