Burning boat towed away from Potter's Cay Dock

http://youtu.be/57POQNx23n8

A BURNING boat was towed to Montagu Beach from close to the Paradise Island Bridge after it caught fire on Monday so that the Fire Department could extinguish the flames. Late afternoon rush hour traffic was backed up along East Bay Street as smoke rose over Potter’s Cay Dock and the bridge as firefighters worked to douse the fire.

What is it about Montague Bay that makes you lunatics think it is the BONEYARD of New Providence. This is disgraceful and should be a criminal act to bring a burning vessel to to be left there incinerating. Why cant it stay at Potters Cay ? That is a disaster area anyway ! If the whole thing burned up it would not be a loss to anyone. Montague Bay is a beautiful retreat for Bahamians to enjoy and you people, seemingly with Government approval, just keep dumping your crap in there ad nauseam. Someone at Dicks Point recently towed a burning vessel into the Bay and it is still there. His daughter is a big muckamuck in the Bahamas Humane Society. Talk about juxtaposition. If you take a boat there then douse the flames and clean it up. We have the slackest Maritime Laws in the world I guess. Like everything else. Mosko Construction dumped a whole load of concrete waste on an island off Atholl Island years ago that is still a bloody eyesore and no-one has ever held them to account for it. Bahamians are just a bunch of slack-ass people.

Boat wasn't anywhere near Potter's Cay...caught fire up by Bayshore.

MonkeeDoo, for what its worth the owner of the boat that caught fire at Dick point did not tow it to where it sank just south of the RNSC, the Defense Force did. And while the Moskos are supposedly responsible for a lot of the debris on the small cays off Atholl Island and I don't excuse them if they are, the Port Authority and RBDF were directly responsible for towing and abandoning all those derelict boats stranded on the beach there during their last harbour clean up a couple of years ago; and as both of those organizations are responsible for the policing of these things I would also agree with your assessment of them as being run by a bunch of slack-ass people. Like you I hope the wreckage of the latest RBDF offering is removed from Montague Beach asap.

It's not Friday, October 23rd and the burnt-out remains of this boat are still on the sand @ Montagu Beach. Who is responsible for removing this? Midterm and weekend and beachgoers have this at this popular site. Still the slight odour of burnt fiberglass (?)
