Hurricane Centre watches system near southeastern Bahamas

THE National Hurricane Centre (NHC) in Miami is monitoring a weather system over the western Atlantic Ocean near the southeastern Bahamas on Sunday.

“Disorganised cloudiness and showers continue over the western Atlantic Ocean located near the southeastern Bahamas,” the NHC reported at 8am.

“Any development of this system is expected to be slow to occur during the next several days while it moves northwestward and then northward, nearly midway between Florida and Bermuda by Tuesday.”

The NHC predicted the chances of a cyclone forming were low, forecasting a 10 per cent chance during Sunday and Monday and 20 per cent over the next five days.
