MP was invited by Governor General

EDITOR, The Tribune.

The February 3 edition of The Tribune carried a Letter to the Editor from Margaret Humes which essentially questions the composition of the delegation that travelled with Her Excellency the Governor General to various Family Islands devastated by Hurricane Joaquin.

The Member of Parliament for Long Island, Mrs Loretta Butler-Turner, was indeed invited to travel with the Governor General and those accompanying her to Long Island. However, Mrs Butler-Turner declined the invitation, informing that other engagements prevented her from accepting Her Excellency’s invitation.

On this occasion, the Governor General’s visit to Long Island also included a stop in nearby Rum Cay, and it was for this reason that the Member of Parliament for that constituency (Cat Island, Rum Cay and San Salvador), the Hon Philip “Brave” Davis was a part of that delegation.
