In a recent online publication by Dr Delon Brennen touting the new National Health programme, he mentioned the words NO COST TO YOU no less than four times and FREE once in the space of one minute. I do not know how this man can sleep at night knowing that what he is telling the Bahamian public is not true.

It is a well-known fact around the world in any form of National Health plan there is a need to pay for it. All countries at present are struggling to find the funds to keep their systems going. The government has admitted that it will need to introduce a tax to pay for it, the amount to be determined they say.

Other countries pay an income tax upwards of 40 plus per cent of their salaries.

In case you didn’t get the memo, Dr Brennen, the Bahamas is BROKE. We have all but been downgraded to junk status.

Dr Brennen, STOP misleading the Bahamian public – this scheme of yours is not Free, it will never be Free, there will be a Cost to all of us.

There is a good chance you will send this country into an economic downhill spiral from which it is unlikely to recover.
