Landing gear fails on Flamingo Air plane

Passengers had a lucky escape after the landing gear of this Flamingo Air plane failed to open upon landing at Staniel Cay Friday morning.

All on board were able to exit the plane unharmed.

The pilot would have known...or SHOULD have known that the gear was not right before touching down at Staniel...Knowing that Staniel has no facilities to deal with a damaged aircraft, I would not have continued the landing attempt, go back around and head the plane back to Nassau and belly it into Nassau where you have fire rescue and maintenance facilities.
