ORGANISERS of the “Mind.Body.Spirit.” festival have declared last weekend’s instalment a success and will most likely be back next year to stimulate people’s minds, revitalise their bodies and pamper their souls.

Launched by renowned Bahamian artist Kim Smith two years ago, the festival promotes health as it regards the whole person.

The two-day event featured activities and services that include yoga, henna painting, native teas, healthy eats, mental wellness, Reiki, massage, astrology, smoothies, sound therapy, natural healing, new age jewellery, portrait artist displays and live music for all to enjoy.

Mr Smith told Tribune Health, that Mind.Body.Spirit., that everyone who entered the festival gates at The Place For Art at Doongalik Studios “left rejuvenated and refreshed”.

“I met a woman on her way and I say, ‘My God, you look exhausted’, and the person said, ‘No, ‘I am relaxed’, and that told me the festival did what it intended to do, and that was bring a sense of peace and relaxation. It was about people stimulating their minds and revitalising their bodies and pampering their souls, and we believe we have achieved that,” he said.

“A lot of people were saying, ‘Oh, this is something that is so needed at a time like this because the country is crying for inner peace’. This is the beginning of bigger things,” he said.

This year, Mr Smith said he added a new element to the festival, one for kids.

“The event was very much like last year, but this year we really focused on the kids section. That needs some tweaking, but we got some good ideas as to how we can make it better. It was the first time for the kids and we believe that it will get better,” he said.

The purpose of the festival is to give exposure to individual businesses and services that encourage healthy living with a focus on the mind, body and spirit.

“The overall event was a success. I said this was the last time we are hosting the event, but we are already talking about next year, so I guess we are having it again,” Mr Smith said.

Proceeds from the event will be donated to Doongalik Studios Art Supply Drive and the Lignum Vitae Centre of Hope.
