Elderly man dies after car crash in Andros

AN ELDERLY man is dead after he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a tree in Andros early Tuesday morning.

The accident happened shortly after 8am in the area of the San Andros Airport in North Andros.

According to police, the man was driving a Ford Taurus with three passengers when he lost control of the vehicle, which flipped over several times before crashing into a tree.

The victim was taken to the local clinic where he died of his injuries a short time after his arrival.

Two women and a man, who were passengers in the vehicle, were treated for minor injuries.

Investigations are ongoing.

This came days after two others were killed in traffic accidents in Grand Bahama and Eleuthera.

According to police reports, shortly after 3am on Monday police were called to the East Sunrise Highway area where they found a 2004 Chevy Malibu that had crashed into a concrete utility pole.

Three men who were in the vehicle were taken to the Rand Memorial Hospital where one later died from his injuries.

The other two men were taken to hospital.

Another man was killed during an accident in Eleuthera on Saturday.

Reports are that shortly after 4am, a man was riding a motorcycle on Queen’s Highway, Gregory Town, when he collided with a Ford Expedition vehicle that resulted in him being seriously injured.

The island’s doctor pronounced the man dead at the scene.
