SEVERAL Bahamian baseball players have made an immediate impact on their respective clubs during opening in the minor leagues.

Leading the group was Todd Isaacs Jr who is off to a torrid start thus far in his first season of Single A baseball.

Isaacs had a productive four-game series for the Lake County Captains to open the season against the Dayton Dragons.

Isaacs hit safely in every game of the series with an average of .333 including five hits, two home runs, five RBI and two stolen bases.

The opening day game was delayed due to poor conditions but when it resumed, Isaacs continued to hit the ball as well as he did the day before and blasted two home runs.

He finished the first game of the season 2-4 at the plate with two homers and two RBI in a 9-1 win for the Captains.

He hit a solo shot in the first inning and added a three-run long ball later in the sixth.

In game two he was 1-4 with one RBI in a 7-3 win, followed by 1-4 and 1-3 outings in games three and four respectively, both losses for the Captains.

In the final two games of the series he snagged two stolen bases. It is the first season for the 20-year-old outfielder in Single A with the Lake County Captains in the Eastern Division of the Midwest League.

In 2016, Isaacs was selected to the All-Star roster in the New York Penn League where he hit .333 with 20 RBI, six home runs, 14 stolen bases and an .898 OPS for the Mahoning Valley Scrappers in the Class A Short Season.

Jazz Chisholm also had an immediate impact in his Single A debut with the Kane County Cougars in the Midwestern League’s Western Division.

The Cougars completed a four game sweep over the Clinton Lumberjacks.

In game one, Chisholm finished 3-5 with two runs scored and one RBI in a 13-3 win.

After an 0-3 outing in game two, he came back in game three to go 2-4 with one RBI in a 4-0 win.

In the series, Chisholm hit .333 with two RBI and a .745 OPS.

In rookie play, he earned a spot in the Pioneer League vs. Northwest League All Star Game.

He appeared in 62 games for the Missoula Ospreys and in 249 at bats, he hit .281 with nine home runs, 37 RBI and 13 stolen bases. He finished with a slugging percentage of .446 and OPS of .779.

The Arizona Diamondbacks currently list Chisholm as the No.3 prospect in the minor league pipeline headed into the 2016-17 campaign.

In his second season in Single A, Anfernee Seymour also got off to a quick start with the Rome Braves in the South Atlantic League.

From his leadoff spot in the lineup, Seymour helped the Braves open the season with a three-game series sweep over the West Virginia Power

He hit .417 with two runs scored and an OPS of 1.128.

He went 1-4 in game one, 2-3 with a run scored in game two and 2-5 with a run scored in game three.

Seymour was also a key factor in Sunday’s 2-1 win, which went extra innings.

He led off the 11th inning with a double and scored the go-ahead run on Anthony Concepcion’s single.

Also in the Single A Midwest League, Lucius Fox  is still searching for his first hit of the season after he struggled through the first three games for the Bowling Green Hot Rods.
