Former Tribune chief librarian dies, aged 99, in her sleep

Doris Bullard, 99, died peacefully in her sleep at her East Street south home yesterday afternoon. With her were her niece, Mrs Patricia Coakley, and her grand nephew, Father Rudi Cleare.

Mrs Bullard, a staunch member of St Joseph’s Catholic Church on Boyd Road, celebrated her 99th birthday on September 27.

Mrs Bullard, a valued Tribune staff member for 53 years, headed many of the newspaper’s departments before retiring in 1998 as chief librarian.

Funeral services will be announced later.
