ONE man is dead and another is in hospital following a shooting in the Freeport area on Monday morning.
According to police reports, officers received a call around midnight of gunshots being fired in the Garden Villas area and officers were dispatched to investigate.
ASP Terecita Pinder said officers discovered two men with gunshot injuries to the body. She said one of the victims was pronounced dead at the scene and the other was taken to the Rand Memorial Hospital where he is listed in serious condition.
The victim’s identity has not been released by police and investigations are continuing into the island’s ninth homicide. The killing marked the 98th murder for the year, according to The Tribune’s records.
Police are appealing to anyone with information who can assist with their investigation to call 242-350-3107 through 12, 911/919 or call the nearest police station.

Something is terribly wrong with Bahamians. Take Iceland. They have a population similar in size to ours. Guns are legal there -- they have 90,000 registered guns in a population of over 300,000 people. There are years that they go without a single murder in a year. They have had one this year, and the suspects are fishermen from a Greenland trawler. Most other murders, like the single one in 2008, was a family member getting drunk and killing another. They never have unsolved murders. The other crimes like robbery and violence are also low. Prisoners in Iceland have full access to the internet and they are let out to go and buy a fast food snack for themselves occasionally.
We Bahamians are a sick society.

Where is No Games Dames in all of this. He said he had the answers. Doctor Nottage God bless his soul did not. Perhaps all political parties will learn that crime is not political.
My view is that there are to many angry people in the Bahamas.
