Epiphany marks Feast of Title – Bishop Laish Boyd leads celebrations

The Anglican Church of the Epiphany celebrated its Feast of Title last Sunday with a solemn evensong, outdoor procession and benediction at 3pm at the church on Prince Charles Drive.

The Rev Laish Boyd, Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of the Bahamas and the Turks and Caicos Islands, officiated. The preacher was the Rev Oswald Pinder, rector of St Margaret's Parish.

The Epiphany of Our Lord is generally observed on January 6 as a church festival in commemoration of the coming of the Magi as the first manifestation of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles.

The word "epiphany" comes from the Greek epiphainen, a verb that means "to shine upon", "to manifest", or "to make known." Thus, the feast of the Epiphany celebrates the many ways that Christ has made Himself known to the world.
