To help protect the country's youth from the social ills plaguing the Bahamas, and to allow them to discover God's purpose for their lives, the Calvary Deliverance Church is hosting a special conference for young Christians.

The church's Generation Stand Youth Conference is being held under the theme "Destined to Live" this Sunday at during the 8am and 10.30am services. The guest speaker will be Pastor Ricardo Miller, a well-known children's ministry advocate. There will also be performances by the youth choir and the praise dance ministry.

Bishop James and Elder Queenie Newry are encouraging young people to attend, and to bring their crews, youth pastors to bring their youth leaders, children ministry workers and all young people to come together and make a difference for Christ.

"The theme chosen for this year's youth conference coincides with the church's theme for the 2018 and it speaks to the lives of the young people. The church's theme is 'The Year of New Beginnings, Restoration, Revelation and Declaration; The Year to Live and Not Die!' taken from Psalms 118:17-24," said Terez Newry, the youth ministry president.

The Calvary Deliverance family endeavours to offer avenues for young people to discover their talents.

"The youths will be utilising their gifts to the honour and glory of God as opposed to being on the streets getting into mischief. God has been good to us and we are excited what He is doing in and among us; raising up young people to live for Him and to be used by Him to draw other young people to himself," said Ms Newry.

During the conference, guests will be enriched in the Word and will see young people on display with their various gifts

"They will lead in praise and worship, fulfilling roles on the programme; praying, reading scriptures, singing in the choir, being a part of the mime, anointed dance ministry, the music ministry, the camera team and the sound and technical ministry to the honour and glory of God and to the edification of the Body of Christ," said Ms Newry.

The main goal of the conference, she added, is to empower young Christians to fulfil their destinies and confidently spread the gospel.

"It is pre-ordained for persons to live in the will and ways of God and not die. To those who don't know their purpose, they will leave knowing more about their purpose in God and excited about fulfilling same," she said.
