Wow it seems pre-election campaigning has already started!
Yes, for a Republic of The Commonwealth of The Bahamas…look it will be totally cosmetic…a new flag for the President who will be the same as the Governor General different title…letterheads for government Ministries will have to change…but in reality naught else.
Oh the biggest objection - opposition will come from the fervent Bahamian Nationalists who want their Royal Honours…this is all a comic opera!
Actually putting pen to paper for a Republic I doubt it will ever or could ever be the FNM - they like those British Titles and Honours. The FNM middle class will not support something which should have occurred in the second parliamentary cycle around 1980-84.
Absolutely no big deal …change the G-G’s flag and header on stationary I can deal with that…the majority of the Commonwealth countries are democratic Republics and recognise Her Majesty as Head of the Commonwealth…So let’s do it.
I say Minnis want…PLP will and immediate after election. Great!
