Offer hope, not blame

EDITOR, The Tribune.

When a government finds that it does not have the answers to the myriad problems facing a society it is not unusual for it to engage in lashing out at the most vulnerable.

With crime, particularly housebreaking, spiralling, regardless of what the Minister would like us to believe, restoration post Dorian moving unbelievably slowly, the economy sluggish, among other anxieties, what does the Prime Minister do? He lashes out at immigrants, “we will take our country back”, he shouts to the delight of the unthinking among us.

Where is the answer to our grave crime problem? Why does it take six months to find out we can’t identify the dead from Dorian? Why can an organisation repair over 100 houses in Grand Bahama in five months and we are now hearing of 34 dome houses being ready? Why is our capital city becoming Dodge City from the days of the wild Wild West?

But no, we will take our country back. A poor economic refugee from our neighbour is not welcome unless he/she can show he/she can school the children and afford medical care.

Come on, show us why we voted for you. Give us some real hope. Please.

Jeanne Thompson is a "its the People's time" voter how brilliant is that The FNM party was a easy read. Zero from Zero is ZERO there was nothing there in the first place.

In spite of all of the injustices going on under this government the only one she really cares about is illegal immigrants??

Does this woman have any children or grandchildren of her own that she cares about? Does she really think our country has the resources to accommodate the ever growing invading force of illegal Haitian aliens? And doesn't Jeanne Thompson know that leaders within the illegal Haitain community are calling for all voters who are of Haitian heritage in the Bahamas to support the PLP in the next general election?!

Ms.Thompson.a lawyer, former senator and judge is speaking the truth.

What the good doctor,Dr.Minnis did with that speech,is straight out of other world leaders 'playbook.

My government has a lot of complex problems, they have trouble solving.

He does not address them.He does not speak anything related to the borrowing resolution or the mid-year budget.

He merely attempts to scapegoat a certain class of persons.

Granted the country does have a serious illegal immigration .What he did was downright cynical.

Like someone said on a local radio show,he reminds them of a next world leader.

Most of the government's other problems and the other problems of the Bahamian people pale in comparison to the number one problem by far for all of us: The ongoing invasion of our country by thousands and thousands of illegal Haitian aliens. And Jeanne Thompson as an illegal Haitian alien sympathizer is wrongfully seeking to get in the way of our dire need to protect all 'true' Bahamians who are on the verge of becoming second class citizens in their own country. This country has been very good to her and she of all persons should not be taking a most unpatriotic stance.

Hey, Boneflesh, I agree with you and a couple of the other commentators. It is sad. I ignore thirdbird as usual.
