THE quote written by your Khrisna Russell from ‘Sir’ Godfrey Kelly is precisely what is wrong as to how national honours are given…for this eminent Attorney and past Cabinet Minister to be quoted: “My honour deserved and it’s long overdue” totally violates the premise the form of how donors are given.
Sorry ‘Sir’ Godfrey no one has an absolute right to an honour…as many have alleged for years the Law has been prostituted and candidate sponsorship abandoned for blatant political nomination by favour because you support the Government in office. The Act and in the case of the Queen’s Honours there is a process…without the knowledge, note without, a potential recipient is nominated…it is not the recipient pushing his honour. It is my suspicion in many cases recipients get their buddies to nominate them, calling favours of their political friends.
Around July 10th, 2019 ‘Sir’ Godfrey - Rev Carrington Pinder and Hon Tommy Turnquest received some of the highest honours the Bahamas National Honours can bestow but seems not satisfied over the next weeks they got Cabinet to nominate them for a knighthood in the case of ‘Sir’ Godfrey - CBE’s for Rev Pinder and Tommy Turnquest the message is they don’t award us the rinky-dink Bahamian Honours we want the real stuff the Queen’s honours. No one has a divine right!

Sir Godfrey Kelly has always had a very dry wit and a great sense of humour. His remark should be taken bearing those two things in mind. It is then not entitlement but humour at work. This honour is so much more deserved than so many previously handed out to others less deserving/ As for the continuing practice of giving Queen's honours to sundry churchmen, that is just laughable and don't they teach us to look forward to heavenly rewards and not earthly ones?

BS as regards your thoughts (lame excuses) about Kelly. Sir Geoffrey Johnstone is long gone but Kelly will envy him to the day he dies. Kelly has always been nothing but a miserable undeserving elitist sod full of a sense of self-entitlement!
