POLICE were called to Princess Margaret Hospital yesterday after a 44-year-old male patient tried to leave the facility through a window, the Public Hospitals Authority said.

The incident occurred around 2.50pm. Video footage of the incident showed the patient on a hospital’s ledge, wearing only his underwear and one sock while a crowd gathered below, watching him.

“Officers of the police and fire units were successful in deescalating the situation and the patient was immediately assessed at the Emergency Department and returned to the ward where he was previously receiving care. The patient remains in hospital on a 24-hour hold for further observation and medical treatment,” PHA said.
