A 27-year-old man who was found with five grams of marijuana earlier this week was yesterday ordered to pay $300 or risk spending a month behind bars.

Lamond Lewis stood before Magistrate Samuel McKinney charged with possession of dangerous drugs after he was found with Indian Hemp on December 14.

Lewis is further accused of assaulting Crystal Bain with a handgun the same day.

During yesterday’s hearing, Lewis pleaded guilty to the drug charge and was subsequently fined $300.

Magistrate McKinney also warned him if he failed to do so, he would spend a month in prison.

However, as it relates to the assault offence, Lewis denied committing the act and the matter was adjourned to December 29 for a bail hearing.
