Jonquel Jones and Foxes one step closer to FIBA EuroLeague Final Four

JONQUEL Jones and her UMMC Ekaterinburg Foxes are one step closer to the FIBA EuroLeague Women Final Four.

Jones finished with seven points and five rebounds in just over 10 minutes of play in her team’s 80-67 win over familiar Russian Premier League foe Dynamo Kursk in the first game of quarterfinal play yesterday in Sopron, Hungary.

Game two in the quarterfinal leg is slated to be played on Friday, March 19.

UMMC finished the regular season with a perfect 18-0 record in the Russian Premier League. Dynamo Kursk finished second behind UMMC in the RPL with a 14-4 record.

UMMC Ekaterinburg finished the FIBA EuroLeague at 6-0 in Group C. Through those six games, Jones averaged 14.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game. She also shot 74 percent from the field and a league leading 62 percent (8-13) on three-point field goals.

Last season, Jones’ first with the club, Ekaterinburg captured their second consecutive and fifth EuroLeague title with a 91-67 win over Dynamo Kursk in Sopron, Hungary. She appeared in eight games averaging 19.6 points and 7.6 rebounds per game.

UMMC has won five Euroleague titles (2003, 2013, 2016, 2018 and 2019) and are perennial Final Four competitors.

The RPL playoffs are set to begin on March 23 with the quarterfinals best-of-three games series.

The Foxes will face look forward to face Sparta & K.
