The dilemma we face over vaccinations

EDITOR, The Tribune.

In 1798, Edward Jenner invented the first vaccine for smallpox. That was 233 years ago. Smallpox was a deadly disease which killed millions worldwide. This vaccine was considered a God send as parents up until then often lost their children to this brutal disease. Smallpox no longer exists and Jenner condemned it to history. Well done Jenner a true hero.

We now have in our midst a new vicious and deadly disease in COVID-19. A medical professional described to me what a truly awful death it is if you succumb to COVID. It’s like drowning where at the end you are literally fighting for every individual breath of air. The geniuses amongst us have worked flat out to create a number of highly effective vaccines to condemn this awful pandemic to history. They have done an astonishing job in a relatively short period of time. This was because the collective pressure our civilizations exerted was intense as we all so desperately want normality to return.

Back in 1798 there was no social media no Facebook no WhatsApp. These social media sites now allows every cretin, nutcase and conspiracy theorist a platform to spew every conceivable lie and nonsense. The educated and the intellectually blessed can filter out the lies and draw conclusions based on rational thought. The educated and the intellectual however are very much in the minority not just here but worldwide. You can’t force people to take the jab even though the experts and the intellectually blessed know it’s for the good of mankind. In a communist country such as China you can just insist your people get the jab and lo, behold, if you try you wheedle out. In highly educated first world countries the vast majority of the population will willingly take the jab. In the UK and the USA approaching 75% are already vaccinated hence their societies are returning to normal with bars, restaurants are fully open and the UK now officially allowing hugging!

What can The Bahamas do if the local population refuse the vaccine en masse? They are wrong and sadly misguided, but can you force the vaccine into reluctant arms? As first world countries return to normal The Bahamas cannot possibly return to normal. What can the government do? If we don’t return to normal how can our tourist-based economy ever return? If the Bahamas becomes an active centre for COVID transmission how can we entice tourists back?

It’s a huge problem. The smart people know the vaccine is the Only solution, but how do you get the not very smart people to comply? It’s an interesting scenario and in the long term somehow or other the governments around the world are eventually going to have to insist their citizenry roll up their sleeves. If not, the effects will be devastating. This is the Vaccine Dilemma.

So, if you challenge the Covid "experts" .......... you are dumb and ignorant??????

The road to Hell is paved with many such "good intentions" like these experimental vaccines from the First World & China

They are not experimental, any more so than any other vaccine. If you understood how the whole R&D, Clinical Trial and approval process worked, then you would see that. Unfortunately, most people don't, so they get understandably nervous and negative when it happens faster than normal

Wrong! They are indeed experimental.

Official websites of both the US FDA and CDC unequivocally state that the vaccines have only been approved for experimental use as a result of their development at warp speed and bypassing of the many long term studies typically required to determine safe use by some or all segments of the human population.

"The smart people know the vaccine is the Only solution, but..."

It is the ONLY solution because governments worldwide have outlawed and threatened doctors over the use of H* and Ive*. In just the last few weeks after learning of the success rate of NA() the FDA has now said that over the counter medicine requires a prescription. That allows them to know which doctors are trying to heal people.

Like Jesus healing the man in the Sabbath, they are being watched carefully.

So, yes, the vaccine is the ONLY solution - all the rest have been outlawed. My apologies also for mentioning Jesus, i know that church gatherings have been outlawed also. My bad.

Dictator hold on power into 2022 could be linked to forced experiamtal vaccination of school children in order get an education. This is next on the global agenda.

Rubberband narrative. The vaccination is to assist the elderly. Then you need vaccination to save Bahamas economy for all working people. Now this devil wants to close the circle by forcing children. Soon the press will come out with a child varients of vivid along with mothers grieving over a dead child. Then he will tell us make sure our grandchildren don't get sick. Save your children's lives. He may even show his grand children being vaccinated. The problem discovered by US press was that the Big Pharma accountants were found to be pushing the demand for school kids vaccination. They were looking at bottom line profits not health and searching for fear tactics to use on parents.

Many many years ago, way before smart phones, I recall a man who saw the Virgin Mary in a bowl of oatmeal. Soon people started to gather every night around his home, until such a time when he need a police permit and bleachers had to be built.

After a while the commotion stopped and when the media went to ask why, he said it was because he started watching McGyver and no longer had time.

This jackass writer needs netflix, or maybe a sewing machine.

Luckily there are not enough vaccines to come around to me. I have no problem with masks, and will likely use it , pandemic or not, when traveling by plane. I caught something the last 2 times I traveled and did not enjoy my vacation.

At the risk of sounding repetitious, there's nothing 'collective' about a 'personal' health decision to either get jabbed or not get jabbed. You will just have to respect the fact that there are many among us who, for our own good reasons, do not feel the least bit safer as a result of your 'personal' health decision to get jabbed by a warp speed developed vaccine approved for experimental use only. Getting jabbed does not somehow make one special, or a life saver or hero. And the decision to get jabbed is entirely a 'personal' health decision, and not a 'collective' health decision, as it should always be for any medication, especially an experimental one.

The majority of we Bahamians don't know what's good for us, we never have, we don't trust, we are negative, that's the way we are. And to our own detriment, we listen to the wrong people that always want to keep us down. Stupid is as stupid does.

We have two choices, we either get a vaccine or we get covid.

I had the vaccine to do what is best for our collective society, I am not a hero, billons of others on the planet have done the same. I do not think I am the special person that one in a million who may have a reaction to it because the odds are so insignificant its laughable that anyone is afraid. They just don't understand mathematics. Again, stupid is as stupid does.

You will just have to respect the fact that there are many among us who, for our own good reasons, do not feel the least bit safer as a result of your personal health decision to get jabbed by a warp speed developed vaccine approved for experimental use only. As you rightfully point out, getting jabbed does not make one a hero. And the decision to get jabbed is entirely a personal health decision, and not a "collective" health decision, as it should be.
