TABERNACLE Baptist Christian Academy’s Hazelle Taylor obtained the highest results in the Bahamas Junior Certification exams in Grand Bahama.

The ninth grader received an A grade in all the five subjects – mathematics, language, Bible, social studies, and Spanish – she sat last June in the eighth grade.

The national exam is graded on a seven-point scale from A-G. Grade ‘A’ denotes the highest level of performance while grade ‘G’ denotes the lowest level.

When asked how she felt about being the top BJC achiever in Grand Bahama, Hazelle said: “I feel at peace. I reviewed my work constantly and I set a (study) schedule with the help of my mom.”

When asked for her advice to other students, she said: “Just trust in God and do your schoolwork.”

The school’s principal, Norris Bain, said they are very proud of Hazelle.

“This is the first time we had a student here that got the highest honour in GB,” Mr Bain said. “She was the only one that did five subjects and got five A’s in one sitting.”

The school official said that their students have been recognised in Nassau in the past for outstanding BJC results, and BGCSE results.

Hazelle will be preparing next year for the Bahamas General Certificate of Secondary Education (BGCSE) exams.

“We are looking for that same kind of (exam) results because she is a dedicated student, and her mother ensures that,” the school’s principal said. “We are very pleased that her mom sees the importance of education and (we) hope and pray she will take it over to her adult life after graduating high school, and when she is in college.”
