BAPTIST men’s director Rev Stephen Ferguson, left, and public relations officer Minister Brent Stubbs display trophies for the family fun walk road race on Saturday, November 6.

THE inclement weather forced the postponement of the return of the Men’s Department of the Bahamas Baptist Missionary and Educational Convention’s Family Fun Walk Race on Saturday.

The event, which was to be smacked in the middle of the Baptist Month celebrations, was called off and is now being rescheduled for Saturday, November 6, starting at 6:30am from the Baptist Convention headquarters’ parking lot on Jean Street.

Men’s director Rev Stephen Ferguson is appealing to all those persons who had intended to participate, and those who would have missed the opportunity, to gear themselves up for the new date.

“Due to the inclement weather, we had to postpone our walk-a-thon, but with this new date, we are looking forward to a great support from the general public, especially our Baptist family,” Ferguson said.

“So we are encouraging everybody who so desires to be a part of this walk-a-thon, a family-fun event, to come out and be a part of some good camaraderie and fellowship as we walk together back on the road again.”

Under the same theme: “Back On The Road Again,” the event will travel south on Jean Street to Prince Charles Drive.

The route then turns left on Prince Charles Drive and heads east all the way to the red light on Fox Hill Road. Participants will then turn around and head west on Prince Charles Drive back to Jean Street. On Jean Street, the route will continue north to the finish line at the Baptist Convention office parking lot.

Categories will include men and women under-15, under-20, under-30, under- 40, under-50, 50-and-over and 70-and-over. There will also be a category for pastors and ministers.

Awards will be presented to the first three finishers in each category. There will also be an award for the church with the most participants to complete the course. All COVID-19 protocols will be in full effect for the event that is open to the general public. The registration fee is $10 per person, which also includes a free commemorative t-shirt.

Pre-registration for the race will begin at 6am on race day.

Interested persons can contact Ferguson at 457- 4202, public relations officer Brent Stubbs at 426-7265 or assistant public relations officer Dereck Munroe at 557-0248 for more details.
