STRAW Vendors Business Association president Reverend Esther Thompson died on the weekend, a relative confirmed.

Her adopted sister, Celestine Eneas, who is president of the Straw Vendors Advancement Association, said she did not want to speculate on the cause of death until she received information from Mrs Thompson’s doctor.

She said she received a call concerning her sister on Saturday. A relative had visited Mrs Thompson’s house and found her unresponsive.

Ms Eneas said she arrived at the home about 18 minutes later only to find her sister dead.

“Everybody was just shocked that she died,” she said.

The last contact she had with her sister was last Thursday.

“Her husband did say she did not feel well all week, but she was fighting it. She didn’t go to the doctors.

“But like I said when I went she wasn’t feeling good, it wasn’t like you know she was sick in bed or anything like that.”

Mrs Thompson was 63 years old.
