Five years to organise polling

EDITOR, The Tribune.

Elections come and go usually every five-years so the organisers of them have the luxury of four plus plus years to get things together...all it takes is an eight-month jump forward and chaos.

Oh we want debates like the US for what God only knows as here we issue a manifesto 81 pages long and are expected to read it and understand it....the Party and candidates ain’t got a clue what’s in them.

Then these polls..... as in the US-UK and most western countries they fail to be accurate and starters it is always the same.....where is the sample being taken from?

They don’t take replies from only cellphone subscribers .... maybe as high as 90% of the voters.

There is no cellphone directory in public domain.... I stand to be corrected BTC nor ALIV may sell our private information so if somehow they get hold of a list legally they may not use that..... can Cable Bahamas let Rev media use their customer list and emails for a survey/Poll?

I say no without a breach of confidentiality so what are the poll people legally left with?

Old faithful BTC very much reduced sample of BTC fix line customers...legal, yes, because the directory is circulated and any customer may and many do refuse to list their names.... details/address and telephone numbers. Using BTC directory is far from the best sample platform.

There are 39 seats in parliament many on islands and any pollster must take a proportionate sampling throughout the whole country, not just Nassau and Freeport.

Are polls accurate and the recent ones did they make sense any of them? No - none is accurate....The one which required you to complete an emailing format well everyone can respond for every different email address you have..... as that format is only open to someone finding the Poll and not a deliberate sample how accurate and how proportionate demographically could it be....sorry failing grade.

I don’t think any of the Polls published made any scientific sense.

Government needs to require that all polls disclose precisely their sampling and their platform list from which they contact respondent persons.

We can’t forget nearly 20% of the 194,000 electorate will not cast their vote.

We have five-years to get organising polling ie: voting correct finally and five-years to clean up polls the taking of opinions of the electorate as to who they will support.

I close with a comment ..... how can you have Party ‘A’ winning and the same party ‘A’ being described as lacking planning 67% response.

Hey someone really trying to fool us?
