The crime problem

EDITOR, The Tribune.

My name is John Brown. For a minute, crime is at the top of everyone’s concern, MP ministers and the police. So I take this opportunity to call BS on an effort for the last 20 years to stop crime.

I was in more shoot outs with the police than any who live to tell the tale. I am one of the original architects of this environment in which we live and I am still a part of the ecological system that exists.

So when I came out of prison more than twenty years ago, I immediately formed a crime watch committee in my community. It was so successful that I also chaired a consultative committee with the police.

Sitting in meetings, luncheons and pray breakfasts with the highest politicians, ministers, police and elites, I learnt one thing — that nothing will ever be done about crime, Never!

No balls, no will and no imagination. So in my published resignation letter (twenty years ago). I painted out the same faults.

Now I am sitting at home laughing because I don’t know if I should cry as the chickens come home to roost.

I would like to help, but help what?! Politicians get ratings? Or help the police put more people in prison? That is not fighting crime. That is the definition of insanity!

Crime is a war and society is the aggressor. First there needs to be a true ceasefire, then open the door for dialogue.
