Bank service

EDITOR, The Tribune.

I am disturbed and even more disgusted by the way customers are treated at the Commercial Banks in our country, especially the ones that are in the South Western District of New Providence.

Sir, a few days ago, I went to one of the banks in the South to do my business. At my arrival, I noticed that there was a line with about 20 persons. As a senior citizens, I asked the Security at the door what had happened to the Senior Citizens' Line. His reply to me was that they no longer had a Senior Citizens' Line. I said thank you and have a good day and left the premises.

Due to the urgency of my business, I returned later and joined the regular line. At that point, there were about six persons before me. A few minutes later, a senior citizen, very senior walking with her cane, assisted by perhaps one of her family members or friend entered the bank. The person that accompanied her asked the same question that I asked at my initial arrival. She was given the same answer that I was given. After standing for a short period of time, the Security went and fetched her a chair and I was happy for her but for me, who was more senior than her must still remain on the line.

Sir, I believe that The Bahamas deserves better accommodations from these banks. Truthfully, we are the ones that contributed to their success and now that they have gotten rich, they do not need our dollars anymore - it appears.

Another thing that I observed is that the banks take our savings, lend them out at high interests but refuse to pay us a substantial interest. That is robbery and should be changed immediately.
