Goodman’s Bay

EDITOR, The Tribune.

Should Government allow private enterprise to coolly take over public open space and no one lift a hand or even understand what is happening? I am concerned what is openly happening on Goodman’s Bay parking lot to the eastern side.

For months chock-a-block with construction workers leaving very limited space for the morning public bathers trying to swim - so what happens later this year when Wynn Condo Hotel opens? 160 units - 80 condos — 80 hotel condos 300 employees which means at least 200 vehicles to find a parking area. No zilch parking area!

Are we going to have a further repeat edition of Sandals Royal Bahamian expand the hotel property and the developer does not provide a single parking spot? Probably inevitable, but shame on Physical Planning as within any such development approval there must be employee parking — Wynn will employ 300 persons that is 300 vehicles!

So, who loses? Joe Public access to a legislatively guaranteed, remember under PM Ingraham legislative protection is guaranteed at Goodmans as an open public space - now that parking area will be taken over by Wynn Hotel employees - is that right? Cable Beach Post Office parking is now 100% Sandals employees. One side of Cable Beach Manor lined up Sandals employee parking.

So, will Goodman’s Bay public open space be safeguarded? Good question let’s hear the official response. Have my fears what will eventually happen no different than Sandals.
