TWO men were charged in a Magistrate’s Court yesterday after police allegedly found $7,800 worth of drugs under their kitchen sink.

Fabian Docree, 36, and Richard Dicks, 34, both represented by Attorney Ian Cargill, stood before Magistrate Samuel McKinney on a charge of possession of dangerous drugs with intent to supply.

A third suspect, Alvin Cavalier, 28, did not appear in court and is still at large. Docree also faced separate charges of attempted murder and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.

At around 11am on July 20, police, acting on a search warrant, entered the defendants’ residence at #17B Clifton Street off Mt Royal Avenue for suspected drugs and firearms. Once inside K-9 units pointed out the location of suspected drugs under the defendants’ kitchen sink.

There, authorities uncovered a white and blue Sports Centre bag, which contained five black plastic wraps, three clear plastic wraps and one clear plastic container all holding a substance later positively identified as Indian hemp.

Altogether, the drugs seized at the property had a collective weight of 7.8lbs and an estimated street value of $7,800.

In a police interview, both accused denied any knowledge of the drugs. It was also indicated by prosecutor Inspector Timothy Bain that Docree also had no prior charges before the court.

However, Docree, pleaded guilty while his co-accused, Dicks, pleaded not guilty.

Magistrate McKinney accepted Docree’s guilty plea and ruled that he be fined $8,000. Failure to pay this fine would result in one year in prison.

The charges against Dicks were withdrawn and he was discharged.
