Is Adrian Gibson a target?

EDITOR, The Tribune.

Please allow me space in your column to express my views on the recent probe into the Water & Sewerage Corporation and what now it appears to be a focus on the Long Island Member of Parliament Mr Adrian Gibson.

What the difference a day makes! It was not so long ago this same Phillip ‘Brave’ Davis was condemning the actions of then Free National Movement Administration for the handling of former minister of his administration. Mr Davis wrote a letter to then Prime Minister Hubert Alexander Minnis (the particulars which appeared in the Monday, July 24th, 2017 edition of The Tribune) expressing that political considerations may have influenced the manner in which these matters were handled.

On this matter I have a few questions for Mr Davis and that is what has changed since the last election as it pertains to the handling of elected officials with regards to investigations? Has there been an independent body established to allow for these matters to be free of political considerations as you had stated back in 2017?

Has any new bipartisan law been passed by the parliament to address this very serious concern as you would have so rightly stated back in 2017? I must express an even more serious concern because Mr Davis wrote these words in that same letter that even make my bones shiver, “When you set out to dig a grave for your enemy, dig two.” Wow! He later stated in that same letter that those words were not a threat, but as things continue to play out I am not so sure that it wasn’t.

I have to question is Mr Adrian Gibson a victim of backlash from an administration that has not been able to get over the arrest of former ministers? Is this an attempt to even the score? “When you set out to dig a grave for your enemy, dig two.“ That still does not settle with me.

It is unfortunate that Mr Adrian Gibson who has from all reports been an outstanding upright individual. One who took on the big issues and one who delivered water to Cat Island as Chairman of Water & Sewerage Corporation and showed Mr Davis up who had served as the Member of Parliament for more than 15 years? I see now how easily he could be one to target.

Mr Gibson stood and fought the union at Water & Sewerage Corporation tooth and nail for what he thought was right and fair.

He was no easy fellow and the PLP had a rough ride with him. They never missed an opportunity to attack him while he held office.

As a matter of fact Davis and Mitchell of the PLP made it their business to visit any union demonstration at Water & Sewerage Corporation. Mr Gibson seems to me to be the perfect red meat for PLP supporters.

But at the end of the day you still need evidence to charge someone and so far they appear to be void of that!

So, I say to Mr Gibson, have no fear stand firm! We stand with you. We the people are watching.

As always I say a word to the wise is sufficient!
