A MAN was sentenced to three years in prison yesterday after admitting to having a banned assault rifle and ammunition hidden in a wall in his room during a police raid of an auto shop last week.

Magistrate Lennox Coleby charged Davion Reid, 34, with possession of a prohibited weapon and possession of ammunition with intent to supply. Reid was further charged with possession of an

unlicensed firearm, possession of ammunition and possession of a part of a firearm.

Police entered Doc’s Auto on Gilder Street off Winder Terrace around 5pm on September 14.

A search of Reid’s bedroom attached to the business uncovered a .40 Carbine Assault Rifle concealed in a wall.

A further search of the room revealed a black Highpoint Smith & Wesson pistol and three .40 magazines.

During this same gun bust, seven rounds of .380 ammunition and 38 rounds of .40 ammunition were also seized.

After pleading guilty to all five charges, Reid was sentenced to three years at the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services.
