A MOTHER was granted $9,000 bail after she allegedly abandoned her three underaged children at home earlier this month.
Magistrate Kendra Kelly charged the 33-year-old defendant, whose name is being withheld to protect the identity of the children, with three counts of cruelty to children.
The young mother allegedly left her 11 and two-year-old daughters and her seven-year-old son home alone on February 5, causing them unnecessary suffering.
The defendant allegedly has a history of abandoning children.
After the woman pleaded not guilty to the charge, the prosecution raised no objections to her getting bail.
The woman must sign in at the East Street South Police Station every Wednesday by 6pm.
Her trial begins on May 1.
