Mr.Smith children born to illegal persons will have to go with their parents. unless you and Joe Darville can provide homes for them. It is no surprise that you are in the midst of this. It is to bad that no shanty Towns have been constructed by you beach front property. If there was you would be singing a different song. You will be putting your money where your mouth is on this one. so go right ahead. You did compare Mr. Jones to a dog the other day on his show. It only shows how your mind works. not well at all.

Mr. Smith really seeks attention at every turn. If you are going to challenge the government then shut your mouth and bring your case to court. You are a big time QC and still spouting like a newbie to the bar. Facts and evidence talk not conjecture and nonsense in the press. But Smith is so biased against any PLP action he can't contain himself. He will find any opportunity to work against the current administration. As much as the PLP annoys me at this moment I agree with them that something must be done. Whats so disgusting about Smith is that he uses terms like genocide to describe the government's policy. It is a gross misuse of the word and it is down right stupid for a man who is supposedly so studied in law. My question Smith is, will you ever support anything that is Bahamian? Every conflict you get involved in seems to involve the interests of people other than Bahamaians. If you are so concerned about human rights then why not address the inhumanity which goes on in Haiti? The Haitian government appears to have a no care policy about its own people and when other countries tighten up they want to have sour grapes. Well something must be done. I agree that we must be humane but Mr. Smith has not yet recommended any alternative to the government's current initiative, neither has the official opposition. Given the response of the opposition I am of the thinking that the FNM given the opportunity would have done the same. Party lines aside Bahamians are recognizing the need for a sensible plan for immigration. This haphazard approach is no longer feasible and with boat loads of Haitians coming daily we cannot continue to take a passive approach to this.

So true Bahamians are getting angrier and angrier by the day at this nonchalant approach to our rights that are being trampled on everyday by these illegal immigrants.We are paying mortgage,rent,light,water,etc while they squat getting everything for free.This is not right. God is hearing the cries of his people.

Comrade truth is Bahamalander's are being forced to stand their ground, if the sovereignty of nation is to be protected. Unfortunately, for the many good, law abiding and decent Haitians among us, the kindness and generosity extended to them over many generations is quickly being destroyed by the radical voices sprunging up daily. Voices I am more than ever convinced are hell bent on claiming Bahamaland as their very own. Comrades the signs are becoming loud and clear. No damn passport can possibly make you a proud Bahamalander. No passport will ever change what is in your heart's, more so, when their actions are more about prepping this land as their captured Haiti colony.

She claims she was trying to defend her self. The reporter said they saw no bruises, Now I am going to tell you, no one can lie like a Haitian. and speaking about drama, they are drama kings and Queens. This poor me and I do not know anything about Haiti will not do. Take note of them on Haitian flag day. they fly their flag with much pride, In Abaco A Bahamian flag was used as a rag not a Haitian flag. The Bahamas has taken to long to put their immigration laws in place. but it is better late than never. something has to be done. These are the same people who are in the Tribune every day, who are encouraging their Haitian people to come to the Bahamas. and they are using their children. I am with the Bermuda Law.

Voltaire, that is a very interesting report but it is 10-years old and the Bahamas is now overrun with illegal immigrants. The policy has changed wherein Immigration officers no longer conduct night raids and the Bahamas just cannot continue in this vein of absorbing illegal immigrants. Too, Haitians cannot claim refugee status as our laws do not allow for that! I am so sick and tired of all illegall immigrants in our country sucking our social, education and health services dry and they don't really care that they are doing it. In fact, they feel the Bahamas owe them something because they were born here, illegally. I applaud Minister Mitchell in having the intestinal fortitude to address and act on this very vexing and explosive immigration problem in our beloved country. The Bahamas is just too small to continue to absord these illegal immigrants who do not contribute to the country's economy and continues to be a drain on its social, education and health resources. The majority of illegal immigrants are Haitians so yes, the focus is more on them but they need to take their fight back home to their country and their government; they have no problem saying how proud they are of Haiti but yet they do not want to go back! More and more countries in the World are addressing illegal immigration and it seems Haitians just want to enter other countries illegally with no respect for the countries' laws and then cry discrimination when deportation is enforced; they are in the millions illegally in the Dominician Republic, in the thousands in Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago and the United States. It is obivious that they have no respect for our laws and these countries laws as long as they can enter illegally and don't get caught. Enough is enough - our country cannot take it any more. Again, kudos to Minister Mitchell and our Immigration Department, keep up the good work!

Mr. Mitchell we need to start arresting and charging those folks that hire these illegals because I see folks as soon as immigration pick up their illegal workers they go and get a new crew so the cycle continues,other than that this is just a political ploy by the PLP.

So who will this plan help? Bahamians can not access health care at the PMH now due to the amount of illegals that are up in there. This will just be another cash grab by the political elite who will never use the scheme and drain it of all funding for them and theirs to live large on the backs of poor Bahamians who can not afford more taxation. The Government of The Bahamas has a sad history of taxation with no return. It seems the only ones who receive a benefit from Bahamians paying tax are the politicians and their crony's. Sooner or later the people will get fed up and push back, god help us when that day arrives!

Here is the problem "The hotel union’s position is that its members cannot afford to lose the 15 per cent gratuity currently levied on all hotel services, as it accounts for 98 per cent of the take-home pay enjoyed by many workers".

So if a waiter has a weekly salary of $100 (which is about it) and that is 2% of his earnings (ie the tips are 98%) that means that he is getting $4,900 a week in Tips? $5,000 a week total earnings OR $260,000 per year.

This is the real problem. The Heads of the Hotel Union are all idiots! ! ! They can not negotiate anything because they do not know anything about the hotel industry.

The Bahamas Bar is full of lazy, incompetent lawyers. It is their incompetence which clogs up the system. They go to court unprepared, and cases are adjourned until though kingdom come. There needs to be penalties when these folks show up Ill prepared. They should pay court administrative fees. Then when you look at some cases like divorce I wonder why it takes forever for a divorce? It is simply because lawyers play games to milk clients dry. The collude and scheme to make as much money as they can. Watch them good. Its a social club and their only goal is to do the least work for the most pay. No real advocacy in what they do. They just want to play big shots around town. The young lawyers are the worst. No real skill and have not practiced their craft. Title grabbers that's all they are.

We did lobby, the government and we told our members what to do according to the law. I repeat, it is not our place to enforce the laws. You don't understand the role of business versus the role of government. We are advocating for a position, exclusive pricing, which will clear up this whole mess.

@chairarranger

What Poster IKalikl is saying is pretty clear. What they had suggested to the government was a 'proactive' measure to escape the very same consequences that plague the public currently. What I find is that most Bahamians are conditioned to jump to making decisions without real thought about what can occur down the road. Then we are 'reactive' to such circumstances that could have been prevented. Time and energy wasted if we had put in the initial effort to brainstorm. Take in others opinions and really come up with effect strategies and/or solutions.

What you're doing CHAIRARRANGER is creating controversy with the original poster because you want him (BFR) to take responsibility for something that is now out of their hands. The entity that put the whole program of inclusive taxation in place aren't they to blame for this debacle? What the hell are you going on with? TAKE A SEAT!
