The goal to have women leave this year’s Beauty Beyond Feelings summit feeling empowered, motivated and confident was well met, according to organisers who staged the event with a Bible-inspired theme. The women attending the conference embraced the message of Solomon 4:7: “I am Enough”.

The summit featured three speakers, Life Worship Centre’s Robyn Rolle, Cross My Heart Ministry’s Shakeisha McKenzie and former Miss Gospel Bahamas Lavette Smith.

“I feel more empowered and motivated by these women after each event. I believe each woman present took something from the night, whether it was from the short skit, the speakers or the prayer,” said BBF founder Raquel Pinder.

“We had Tamara Moncur, my co-worker and friend, write a short skit to perform. The skit included four women, including myself, conversing about transparency in the church and truth. It was not only thought-provoking, it was hilarious. It showed how we as women go through different issues, but at the end of the day we are enough.”

Ms Pinder, who is also the owner of a hairstyling company called Styles By Kelly P, encourages Bahamian women to always remember that their true beauty lies within them.

“These women who attended expressed how important it is for me to continue to host events like these. I felt so much joy knowing that my labour was not in vain. That is what it’s all about. We laughed, played games, won prizes, ate, cried and prayed,” Ms Pinder said.

Her motivation to continue with these events, she said, comes from the women she has connected with over the years as well as the desire to connect with those who she has yet to reach.

“This movement is needed for women of all cultures and I will stop at nothing because this movement is a part of me; I live for this everyday. Next up, we have the ‘I Am Enough’ school tour that is about to kick off real soon. Then we have our ‘Heart & Sole’ event which is scheduled for this summer,” she said.
