WHILE Easter is over for this year, the messages surrounding the crucifixion, death, resurrection and Jesus Christ’s victory continues to resonate with many believers.

The Fine Arts Ministry at Golden Gates World Outreach Ministries seeks to reinforce the message during its post-Easter concert expected to feature senior choirs from various churches on the island. The concert will be held this Sunday at the church 7.30pm.

Performers will include the Abundant Life Bible Church, Annex Baptist Church Senior Choir, Church of God of Prophecy East Street, St Agnes Anglican Church Sanctuary Choir, Transfiguration Baptist Church Choir, Zion East and Shirley Streets, and more.

The concert will held under the theme “Let the Anthems Ring Out”.

Pastor Trent Davis, who is responsible for Fine Arts Ministry at the church, said the concert will be a “wonderful experience”.

“Oftentimes we hear a lot of younger groups performing while the senior folks are just relegated to their church. But this is a post-Easter concert and we have got a cross-section of churches coming from all denominations,” he said.

“People can expect to see our seniors who people think are done but are really contributing some lively anthem music. The music that will be featured are anthems. So it is going to have city feel and it will take you back to the islands as well,” he told Tribune Religion.

Last year’s event, Pastor Davis, said featured soloists but this time it will feature church choirs from around Nassau.

“I think this is the first time in Nassau that all of the choirs are coming together in a long time,” he said.

Developing the Fine Arts Ministry at the church has been a major project for Pastor Davis. He said the ministry has progressed and expanded greatly over the years.

“Fine Arts is the largest department that we have here at the church. We have bells, a marching band, two choirs, mime, dance ministry, praise ministry. So we have one of the largest fine arts ministry from the Bahamas,” he said.

“The ministry is the main focus of the church. Different churches have different thrusts.”

Another goal for the church is raising up a group of young people who are skilled in the area of fine arts.

“We have a lot of young people that are engaged in developing the fine arts. And part of why we did that is because we want to offer music and fine arts as vehicle for young people to go off to college.

“Right now we have several young people that are currently studying to be professional music teachers or fine arts teachers in colleges abroad and in the Bahamas. We are very proud of that programme because we train these children from the age of eight and nine to be professional musicians,” Pastor Davis said.
