Seasons change

By Allison Miller

I HAVE heard it said that nothing remains the same and there are different dynamics to face each day. I have found this to be very true.

When I am advised about life from those who are far more experienced than I am, I listen attentively and take it all in.

On the verge of addressing a waiting congregation, I was reminded of a powerful truth and it made me realise that you may start out one way and as time goes on you will definitely end up another way all together.

It is something that we have heard most of our lives: “It does no matter how you start, but what really matters is how you finish. Seasons change.” Those words took my breath away for a moment and made me forget the butterflies that were in my stomach as I was about to complete my assignment.

We often times forget that seasons do change and it’s amazing how things work out. Life isn’t designed for things to stay one way forever. If you find yourself in the same position that you were in five years, I regret to inform you that there has been no growth in your life. When our seasons change it is imperative that we make the necessary adjustments or we will be stuck in a new season with an old mindset.

The Bible tells us that we cannot put new wine in old skins. If we do, we will destroy the wine skin. It’s the same with our lives. When our seasons change we must change for the new season we are in.

I want to encourage persons who are discouraged by where they are currently. I suggest that you take solace in the fact that we have a God who is touched by every pain, discouragement, let-down, hurt, broken heart, discord, feeling of being left behind, etcetera.

The situation and circumstances may seem hopeless and unclear, but there is a promise from the Father that, “All things work together for good to those who love the Lord and are called according to His purpose.’ (Roman 8:28).

In another scripture it says He sends rain on the just and the unjust; we are all His children. Some of us choose differently from how He said we are to live our lives. Nevertheless, be encouraged, because seasons change, and change for the better. Hold fast to God’s Word. He always comes through for us. Our seasons will change.
