AN outreach ministry is hoping its efforts to disciple children sparks a love within them that impacts every aspect of their lives.

“Spark” is a children’s discipleship and mentorship programme that is held bi-monthly every second and fourth Saturday in Gambier Park.

On February 11, the programme will be hosting a unique event called “Epic Spark and Kidz Praise” where the milestones which the participating kids have achieved will be celebrated. The event begins at 10am.

The programme is held under the umbrella of the outreach ministry of Epic Church Bahamas.

Since its inception, “Spark” has targeted the Gambier community, providing food, mentorship, school supplies and Christmas gifts to the kids.

“In addition to that, we have sessions with the kids every week where we play with them, talk with them, teach them a Bible lesson, do crafts with them.

Then on selected Saturdays we have a fun day for them where we celebrate them and have a bouncing castle, games, popcorn, food and entertainment for the kids just so they can enjoy themselves,” said Ernica Scott, a volunteer with the programme.

“Our goal is to invest in and empower the children so that they become productive members of society.

“The major outreaches are at Easter, back-to-school and at Christmas.”

The vision of Epic Spark and Kidz Praise is to awaken a sense of identity and purpose in children through the transforming power of the Holy Spirit. In doing so, the ministry hopes to spark excellence in all aspects – spiritually, physically, emotionally and academically.

“We believe that every child is a gift from God, handcrafted to fulfill a unique purpose, and that every child has the ability to excel when given the right tools for success. Our goal is to disciple and mentor boys and girls in their journey through childhood,” said Ms Scott.

Other upcoming events include a three-month discipleship programme where the kids will learn the Word of God as well as Christian principles and values.

Guest speakers will also be invited to speak on proper hygiene, developing good study habits and more.
