AN ordained minister is living up to her name with the start of a ministry that feeds the hungry, gives hope to the downtrodden and counsel to those in distress.

Bless Miller, has been using the Abundantly Blessed Outreach ministry over the past month to help those in need of a blessing.

Minister Miller began providing hot meals for less fortunate children in her neighbourhood last year and alater extended this to the elderly.

"People had needs of other tangible items. Not only did they need more tangible items, there were people outside of my neighbourhood needing help," she said.

This became the driving force for launching the ministry last month.

Currently the outreach operates as a non-denominational but Christian-based organisation. Its motive is to serve those members of society that are unfortunate among us and are looking forward to someone reaching out and giving support, love and care.

"Being a non-profit organisation, our main aim is to serve the community by helping the poor and downtrodden, mirroring the love of God towards mankind," she explained.

Over the past several months, Minister Miller said she has seen God expand the vision of the outreach beyond the four walls of her church. Abundantly Blessed is not limited to grocery distribution but also seeks to give scholarships and small monetary assistance whenever possible.

The outreach has been opened since September 3 and operates from its new location at #494 Blue Hill Road South, Nassau. The ministry is open Monday - Friday between 10am and 6pm.

"We have revamped our grocery distribution program to accommodate the added number of persons that the Lord has been increasing the program with day by day. Our grocery assistance program is given to all approved applicants once per month, with distribution days on Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays only; however, we accept applications Monday through Friday during our operational hours," she said.

"With the help of the Lord it is our desire to be able to extend the ministry in providing personal and professional training, job placement, after school classes and adult counselling. I've been blessed with a support team who assist with all areas of the ministry. However, we are presently looking into establishing an executive team who will be responsible for ensuring that we are going in the direction of our purpose. We are in need of funds all types of groceries clothing, possibly bed and bedding and personal care items."

"We are thankful and appreciative to God for the support of everyone who has had and is having a soft heart and appreciation to our efforts," she said.
