11 Ways To Motivate For Better Performance

By Canon S Sebastian Campbell

  1. Keep your promises: people are motivated by people they trust. Never ever be late to your own meetings

  2. Give power to the other person: contract with your people, meaning have agreements, ask questions, because questions honour the employee's thoughts and feelings.

  3. Don't tell people how to do things, tell them what to do and let them surprise you with their results. People are not puppets; don't try turning them into one; everyone has a creative gene.

  4. Do one thing at a time. The mind entertains one thought at a time, and only one. Why do people feel swamped and overwhelmed? The greatest source of stress in the workplace is the mind's attempt to carry many thoughts, many tasks, many future scenarios, many cares, many worries, and many concerns at once. So a good leader learns to prioritise.

  5. Accelerate change. This will get the creative juice flowing.

  6. Tell the truth quickly. Be quick to own up to your faults and beg forgiveness; it proves you are human. Call a spade, a spade.

  7. An army of sheep led by a lion will defeat an army of lions led by a sheep.

  8. You are not a fireman. Here you cease to be a leader, you move from fire to fire and every time you have put out a fire you go looking for another one. The fire controls you. Be certain and have confidence in your self. Stop thinking the world is against you; the sky is not falling

  9. Be a ruthless optimist. A leader is a leader in hope.

  10. Decide to be great. People want to follow greatness, they want to be like you, want to do things for you. The route to lasting greatness is servanthood-Jesus model

  11. Foster a happy environment.
