BAHAMIAN Kaynell Gould remembers when the first “Single Mothers United” meeting was held in the comfort of her home - 20 years ago.

At the first meeting, women who had never met before but had so much in common came together for an evening of sisterhood, fellowship and possibly new friendships.

Over the next few years, Single Mothers United evolved into a Ministry that has blessed countless women in Nassau as well as in Freeport.

“We held monthly meetings, annual conferences, socials, afternoon Sunday School classes and ministered to the mother and her child/children on so many levels. We continued to evolve and grow and many women who started with us as single ended up getting married, but always remembered the impact the Ministry had on their lives,” said Minister Gould.

Since 2015, however, the Single Mothers United organisation has been on a sabbatical - seeking God’s guidance to take the Ministry to a new place. Minister Gould is delighted to say that Single Mothers United is now on the move again.

“We want to reunite, reconnect and open the doors for our single mothers to be able to be a source of blessing, encouragement and strength to each other. We want to create an environment of safety and support for our women and their children. We want our women to know they do not have to camp in the pain of their past, they can grow from it, learn from it, overcome it and become victorious daughters of the Most High God,” said Minister Gould.

She said the ministry is all about healing and restoration. Minister Gould believes a restored woman is a whole woman, and a whole woman is a blessing to her family.

“I have personally experienced the healing and restorative power of the Almighty God in my own personal life and can tell you, without that, I do not know where I would be today. To God be all the glory. There are so many hurting mothers in our nation. Just looking at them, you may not be able to tell, but God knows and He hears the cries of their hearts and is very much aware of their secret pain that they share with on one,” she said.

She said the organisation will host monthly meetings on the first Friday of each month beginning July 5, 2019, from 7-9pm. The venue will be announced closer to the date.

It is her prayer that women will avail themselves of the opportunity to become a part of an army of women who are determined to live their best lives and to raise their children in the fear and admonition of the Lord.
