Most of us won't recognize the damages that VAT will inflict on our incomes until some time to come.

true. however, I see my coworkers already complaining about this and that price, and are starting to feel it.

the customs duties reductions could at best maintain the price, BECAUSE THE VAT IS CHARGED ON DUtY. Even if the merchant does not markup on VAT, a 15% reduction on duty, generates about 5% reduction on costs to the merchant, and when vat is charged on the final price, the price will remain the same. ON A SUNNY DAY, for products which were formerly duty free, or which duty reduction is 15% there were immediate increased.

I have always said that, before vat, if you buy a hot dog machine you paid duty once. Now the duty might have been slightly reduced, but, adding vat, the hot dog machine costs the same . PLUs, PLUS, the govt will collect each time you sel a hot dog well into the future, which it did not do before.

Don't hold your breath for Christie to do diddly squat about anything that is clearly harmful to the health and well being of many Bahamians. After all, Christie has done diddly squat about the periodic dump fires that spew toxic fumes over thousands of very vulnerable young children and elderly senior citizens. Christie could not care any less about your health or my health ...... just take a good look at Christie ....... he lacks the discipline necessary to take care of his own health much less worry about ours!

You really think our government can decide what the Bahamian dollar is worth? The ratings agency's can devalue our dollar tomorrow if they have cause. Our government has been told to cut back spending but being the fuctards they are they have increased spending. They believe the Bahamian people are made to pay taxes for the government to WASTE, MISMANAGE, and STEAL. The party is coming to an end and we the Bahamian people will be the only ones that feel the pain. The political class already has their money stashed abroad and if it gets bad enough they will go abroad and never look back!

Sure it was an oversight. The rich are only assessed taxes in the Bahamas by mistake.

You think i sorry for people who buy ten million dollar homes?

Trump will size up Papa Doc Minnis in an instant by just looking at his poor body language and hearing his voice. And when and if Papa Doc Minnis gets the opportunity to try and articulate anything at all to Trump, well, let's just say that will be game over for the Bahamas. The U.S. Dept. of State has already put the Bahamas in the "Unfriendly" bucket. The next two buckets down are "Adversarial" and "Enemy". Let's all pray we don't end up in that last bucket. Just look at what U.S. foreign policy initiatives ending up doing to Venezuela after they were put in the "Enemy" bucket.

Nice try at re-writing history my friend. For decades U.S. oil companies were literally raping Venezuela of its most precious natural resource - oil. The Venezuelan people were most unhappy with the situation and elected Chavez who promised he would do something about it. Chavez attempted to negotiate a fairer deal with the greedy U.S. oil companies whereby the Venezuelan people would receive the benefit of a much more reasonable share of the profits derived from the sale of Venezuela's oil. The greedy U.S. oil companies refused to provide the Venezuelan people with a greater share of the profits from their oil and Chavez eventually ended up having to nationalize the immoveable assets of the U.S. oil companies in Venezuela. From that point on, U.S. foreign policy was directed at destabilizing Venezuela with the aim of eventually putting in place a puppet dictator who would ensure neither Russia nor China moved in to gain control over Venezuela's vast oil reserves. All of this has transpired over more than two decades now.

Don't worry we will now find out how well this country will be able to withstand 10's of thousands of people being unemployed. This is but the first of many layoffs. I hope you don't complain when the taxes are raised on those lucky enough to still have a job (i assume thats you and that you aren't in the tourist industry).

But Dawes, why do you want Americans to fly here now, when even US states are blocking each other from flying in or forcing mandatory 14-day quarantine. What good is opening up, if your population turns into Arizona, or Oklahoma, or Florida, or Texas. As to your tax suggestion: It is not perfect, but, yes, that may have to happen, but really there is no better alternative?

The water in Highbury park on the Robinson road side is stink with sewage. When is WSC returning to fix this issue? We called many times since their last attempt but they give us excuses instead. This needs to be remediated, it’s been weeks, its real bad.

The number you quote is not accurate, as many burials had been postponed for months, including one where the death occurred Dec 2020.

You need to count the weekly numbers from January and divide by the number of weeks.

Of course one of the really big lingering questions yet to be fully studied and answered, is whether one of the side effects from the use of the experimental mRNA vaccines is Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR). Those who did not need to join the Vaccine Dependent Global Society from an at-risk-profile standpoint, but were nevertheless quick to do, have much to worry about going forward. And it's beginning to seem the unvaccinated have much more to fear from the unnecessarily vaccinated.

Sad that a close family member swore by Minnisitis ignoramous stupiditis the insisted being cured, ignoring Gates warning that Vax does not stop transmission. All doctors should be charged with malpractice. My family became hospitalized from covid then struggled for weeks. Thank God he with four others survived.
