Who is he accused of killing? When? How long has he been running free on bond? How much was his bond? Lazy, lazy reporting.

All this means is that when he is arrested for speeding 3 months from now, he will be out on bail for triple-murder AND armed robbery. The guy who was arrested early last year for possesion of a half ounce of marijuana, however, will still be steadily serving his 5 year sentence in prison. No bail for that sucker.

Blah, Blah, Blah, empty words. Nothing that the P.M. says these days is worth the hot air that expels those words. The Nation needs an open, transparent, honest, LEADER!

General, i don't give a shit if the British own me as the current owners i have are much worse slave masters than the British. At least with the British there are rules and regulations that are upheld and those caught breaking those rules and regulations are held accountable. The Yellow and Red tribes please sell us back to the British, we do not want to be abused by you any longer.

It's weird, I didn't know you had to show how much money you had on you when travelling. I usually travel with a few dollars but nothing to sustain me for the length of the trip. I typically expect to be able to access an ATM...I'm curious as to what prompted the officer to even ask if she could support herself financially

Complete, total and blatant corruption. The nation has become a thieving kleptocracy and the legal system is sickeningly corrupt and near collapse. Steal, steal, steal. I agree with the other comment: Bring back the British rule, we were better off.

Not at all surprising given the Ton Ton Macoute attitude that many officers have. Completely unable to deal with the out of the ordinary situation, completely ignorant of the law, but well trained in thuggery. In any case, she got a decent ride compared to Haitians, Philippines. Put them in pink jumpsuits instead of their pseudo military drab. Might give them a much needed dose of humility.

Comrade small children (police mentality immigration officers too) might be reading this, so try being polite with the language by using ...flipp'in outraged. Why even bother spending millions of dollars in promoting TV ads, featuring a smiling female immigration officer, welcoming a visitor to Bahamaland?

Welcome Comrade Visitor and enjoy our Bahamaland ... that's, if you can get by rude Immigration officers?

Another dumba$$ friggen Kool aid drinker. What kind of dream world are you living in buddy ?I have heard similar stories from others who have come to visit.....These officers are out there minds. If what she is saying is true, there was no real warrant to why she was detained....and even if there were, the whole experience and way they were treated leaves much to be desired. Would you want to be locked up in a detention center with no food, water or private toilet? Would you want to be harassed ? Would you want your mother or sister to be harassed and advanced upon whilst being detained ? Think man, c'mon...This is exactly why our country is the way it is. TOO MUCH FRIGGEN GREED AND SLACKNESS.....Stop siding with the officer just because he/she is a Bahamian and the tourist is not.

Welcome to "Bizarro Land"....the land where government officials do what the hell they want to to anyone they want to and at any time!....cause that's "how we roll".....bahamian style....personally I hope these people sue the pants off the Bahamian officials....they should lose their jobs (very very doubtful for sure since all are related and no one wants to "rock the boat) or hold people accountable for their actions.....

Why is this foreign operation permitted to dive in the Bahamas in the first place? Perhaps now, after yet another incident, these operations need to be looked at -- either regulate them or ban them from our waters.

Sharks are native to the sea. We humans are not. To taunt and entice a shark on its own turf is ludicrously stupid. There are ways to observe them without having to induce a feeding frenzy, which is just asking for trouble.

The crux of the matter is that electricity is too expensive and out of reach for the average Bahamian. Now with VAT being added onto BEC bills more Bahamian will fall into the category of being unable to keep the light on.

This is one of the hottest summers on record and with global warming and a flawed and convoluted energy vision for the Bahamas, you can expect BEC costs to continue to climb.

I've compared BEC rates to Florida Power and Light (FPL) for a residential property and noted that BEC is 209% more than FPL for electricity and 641% more for the fuel surcharges. Overall BEC charges 382% more than FPL for electricity.

For a residential property burning over 800 Kwh BEC charges 0.1495 per Kwh and fuel of 0.252873 per Kwh for a total charge of 0.4024 per Kwh.

For a residential property burning over 1,000 Kwh FPL charges 0.07159 per Kwh and fuel of 0.03947 per Kwh for a total charge of 0.11106 per Kwh.

A comprehensive energy vision for the Bahamas would include selling 100% of BEC to Bahamian private enterprises and the general public through an IPO (get government out of the electricity business like all developed nations have done), splintering BEC into stand alone 'baby' BECs by island, introduction of solar energy, introduction of waste to energy processing, recycling, introduction of competition (eg. Cable voice v. BTC voice services), allow citizens to sell energy back to the grid and hive off the electrical grid to a separate to serve all electrical companies.

Through the Freedom of Information Act we could have determined why the fuel surcharges are 641% more expensive than Florida. However I can only guess that it is the difference in cost of diesel v. gas, plant efficiency/age, freight, lack of competition in the supply of diesel to BEC, mark ups by government and private concerns (cartel like behavior) on the purchase of diesel. I can't tell but it feels like someone is getting rich off of us.

"However, Mr Miller said “he is fighting” to stop the disconnections that will affect thousands of customers because it is “hypocritical” and “goes against the mandate of the PLP”. Let's get this right, The mandate of the PLP is to alleviate any personal responsibility for one's bills, and for government to cover same with taxpayer burden? Now who is being hypocritical? It is a truism that the PLP duck and dodge personal accountability at every turn, but there seems to be no sense left, they degenerating into free fall, unfortunately taking the country with them! Mr. Miller, you made, and continue to make the correlation that businesses should not be disconnected as they employ etc etc AND THERE ARE MANY BUSINESSES THAT DO NOT or CANNOT PAY.... Can you please name and shame them as you were so named and shamed? I think the public should know, and If a dozen of you step up to pay once shamed, BEC could benefit from millions in revenue made good!
