Yes we do Banker . Lady Tals is seasoned and skilled at the art of obsessively only looking at one side in the name of party loyalty and hatred of one man . I ,m a little worried if Rory can keep up the pace ,he has resorted to viscous name calling and flights of fancy about his stature as an international business consultant... ..lmao

JohnDoe 12 years, 4 months ago on Christie gives address at UN General Assembly

The fact of the matter is that this speech by the PM is directed at and for our local consumption rather than for anyone at the UN. Before 1999 when HAI was ordered to change our legislation or else these exact sentiments about unfairness were being echoed. And what has happened since. The OECD, FATF, G8 and G20 have continued their march of imposing extra-jurisdictional obligations on offshore centers, because it is in their best interest to do so. This trend will not be abated by our or Caricom's continued protest, that is the first fact we must come to grips with. Further, we nor Caricom have a meaningful carrot or stick to effectively influence this trend or debate. In other words this is the new paradigm or market reality that we will have to operate in. The countries that will be successful will be those that re-position themselves and their business models to leverage the growth opportunities inherent in this new reality. For over fifteen years we have been protesting that it is not fair, talking the same talk and doing absolutely nothing to re-position our economy or business model. This is not Sunday School, this is the real world. Sometimes things are just not fair, but we must still be practical and get on with it.

It's not a military hearing, and it isn't a national security matter. It is a human rights violation matter, and a contravention of the Geneva conventions that the Bahamas is signatory to.

banker 10 years, 9 months ago on 2015/2016 BUDGET: Deficit slashed by two thirds

It is all clever smoke and mirrors folks. Let's look at the numbers here. They have collected $110m in VAT in the first 5 months. If the VATcollections remain on target for the entire year, this represents 41.6667 percent of the total estimated. In other words, they are on target to collect a projected $264 million for the year. Add the $500 million that they say is projected by growth, and one would expect the government revenues to increase by a total of $764 million. If the deficit last year was $550 million (by their own numbers) than they should be declaring a surplus of $214 million. Instead they are declaring a deficit of $197 million?????? That is a difference of $411 million -- 4/5ths of a half a billion dollars. What the hell is happening to that $411 million??

Good news? Hah! Even at face value, here is what Christie is saying "Good news folks -- instead of taking you and your children and your grandchildren's future further in debt by over half a billion dollars, I am only taking you in debt this year by close to $200 million dollars. Applause please! Een that good?". A $197 million dollar debt this year is a hell of a lot of money, and yet they are talking about floating more bonds and loans on BISX which is further debt for the government not accounted for.

So the question you should be asking is, "Where is the missing $411 million going?". These charlatans make me sick.

banker 10 years, 7 months ago on Gomez and Chinese bank argue against Chapter 11 ruling

Does anyone else see sovereignty issues here with Gomez, the scumbag son of the Arch Homophobe and the representative of the crown being joined with the Chinese company, which in fact is controlled by the communist Chinese government?

Does this not announce to the world that the Bahamas has surrendered it sovereignty to the Chinese?

We all know that the Chinese culturally think that Black people are inferior ( 7 Examples of How Blacks Are Discriminated Against in China http://atlantablackstar.com/2015/01/16/… ) , and that stinking heap of human garbage called Allyson and Damien rush in to wipe the azzes of the Chinese?

Have we no more patriots left? Have we no self respect as a government? Is our government that callous, criminal, unpatriotic and sub-human? The PLP in form of Lynden Oscar Swindling sold the country to Columbian cocaine cartels for 20 years. The PLP under Perry Crisco-Butt sold us to the Chinese for the next hundred years until these islands in the sun with be worthless rocks filled with half-wild beggar criminals of the lowest kind.

banker 9 years, 5 months ago on Baha Mar staff told: ‘Take it or leave it’

Under Queen Victoria in the time of Oliver Twist, the hierarchical society was composed of the upper class on top, followed by the middle, the working and the under classes and inequalities between classes in terms of working and living conditions, wealth and education were undeniable. In fact, in contrast to the middle and upper classes’ grandeur and greed, the working class lived in “small overcrowded houses” administrated by upper class landlords and as a result of the latter’s total absence of preoccupation for poor sanitation, fatal diseases and infections were present (Makati, 2008, p.22). Moreover, in spite of their hard work, “members of the lower class were perceived as irrational, immature, superstitious, brutal, excessively sexual and filthy”. In 1834, in an attempt to reduce flagrant poverty among the poorer classes, the Poor Law Amendment Act was passed. Yet, instead of helping them, the act drastically reduced financial help and “made the impoverished suffer even more”.

Victorian moral values in Dickens' Oliver Twist

Ain't this the truth. The Bahamian contractors who bought into Baha Mar, will be poorer now with their meager take-it-or-leave-it pittance, are worse off than if Baha Mar had never started.

Forget it, LBT, or perhaps more apt "BLT", recognizes she is truly DONE and IRRELEVANT and is at the 11th Hour merely trying to disrupt the Political Process even more than She has "already" done, which is not only sad, but a sign of selfish desperation, as clearly nothing she says or does has anything to do with Country First, much like her appetite, uncontrollable self satisfaction!

HarryWyckoff 8 years, 9 months ago on Government must listen to church, warns ex-Christian Council leader

Belief in the mythical character 'God' is a personal choice.

Faith is just that.... having 'faith' in something that may or may not exist.

Neither of these things have ANY PLACE in government and governing a nation.

Ever.

Religious belief is like a d*ck.

Its fine if you have one. It's fine that you like having one, but... try to shove it down someone's throat, for force it upon someone and we have a serious problem.

DreamerX 8 years, 4 months ago on Aliv: $5.6m bond release shows roll-out targets hit

No issues with the service yet, seems better than BTC, I've have both in active use since they launched. Prices were much better before BTC mobilized discounted price schedule to slow the bleeding. Now they are comparable and should be treated based on your usage and pay levels. BTC wins in terms of the low usage person who only top up small amounts incrementally or medium amounts once every few months. Aliv is a bit better for high use person especially ones who have spikes in usage with the month to month subscriptions allowing you to plan for larger packages if you know it will be busy and reduce to medium to smallish packages the next month. They are sharing mostly the BTC network, so idk how it will fair once they are mandated to use their own network or BTC is no longer ordered by URCCA to permit usages of the network.
