Tureano Johnson loses by KO
Jaime Munguia caught Tureano Johnson with a vicious uppercut that severely gashed the Bahamian middleweight’s upper lip and led to a doctor’s stoppage. Munguia retained the WBO Intercontinental title and was awarded a sixth round knockout win over Johnson in Friday night’s DAZN Boxing main event at the Fantasy Springs Resort in Indio, California.
Coleby, St Fort, Higgs deliver season highs
AN active weekend for Bahamian pro basketball players in their respective leagues across the globe featured several season high performances. Headlining the list was veteran forward Kadeem Coleby in the Japanese B-League. Coleby finished with 30 points and 15 rebounds - both season highs - in an 89-86 loss for his Akita Northern Happinets to Hitachi SRT. He shot 11-14 from the field and also added two blocked shots. Akita dropped to 6-4 on the season, sixth place in the Eastern Conference.

In a tale of two teams, Jasrado “Jazz” Chisholm and the young Miami Marlins’ playoff race will begin in the MLB Wild Card Round against the Chicago Cubs’ battle-tested group of veterans. The Marlins (No.6) will go on the road to face the Cubs (No.3) in game one of the series 2pm Wednesday at Wrigley Field in Chicago, Illinois. The game will be broadcast live on ABC. PRO basketball leagues across Europe have tipped off their regular seasons and several Bahamian players were active in their respective teams’ debut. Both Domnick Bridgewater and Kentwan Smith got off to winning starts in France’s Nationale Masculine 2 (NM2) League. Bridgewater led Sapela Basket 13 to an early 2-0 record and recorded another double double.He finished with 19 points and 10 assists in a 90-74 win over Le Cannet Cote d’Azur Basket.
