There are anomalies in every situation ............ there are mistakes made in all countries when it comes to immigration matters ............ so it is inevitable that it may occur here now that we are cleaning up loose ends after many decades of slackness. Jamaica is on the other end of the spectrum ................... you have that in common with the Haitians.

If you gat a valid passport through the front door ......... not Spanish Town. If you dont have a passport, you must have verification of date/place of birth and the legitimate nationality status of your parents & grandparents............. or if your birth pre-dated 1973 and met the requirements of the Constitution.

Thats a true Bahamian

CatIslandBoy 9 years, 7 months ago on State-recognised funeral for Dr Myles Munroe and his wife, Ruth

I am always amazed at the level of ignorance and pettiness that continue to abound in this tiny island nation. Some of your outrageous comments are reflective of a backwards people who fully deserve the political establishment that you currently enjoy. To posthumously denigrate a man who has single handedly done more for the Bahamas on the international stage than any other Bahamian in history, is disgusting and despicable. Dr. Munroe should be lauded and held in high esteem, as a role model for our troubled youth to mimic. Every penny that he received was earned from his intellectual reservoir. In sheer numbers, he probably wrote more books than many of his naysayers have bothered to read. Through him, and because of his numerous conferences and fledgling ministry, thousands of visitors have flocked to Nassau, and spent thousands of dollars in hotels, restaurants, and shopping. I can go on to list the positive impact that Myles Munroe has infected upon the Bahamas, where he always proclaimed "God lives", but his public record speaks loud and clear and is very audible to all those except the jealous naysayers.

Finally, the government is to be commended for declaring a state-recognized funeral, even though many of you babbling idiots do not understand the difference between a State Funeral and a State-recognized funeral. As a recipient of the Order of The British Empire (OBE), and in recognition of his work on behalf of this country this recognition is most fitting. I hope more Bahamians will rise to the occasion, filling the void created by this tragedy, and continuing to showcase our Bahamian talent in the international arena.

Our government supported UWI financially too, it's a wonderful institution. Barbados is beautiful, Jamaica is beautiful and Trinidad is beautiful. Every island has its good and bad (this includes the Bahamas and all the Caribbean), they're only perfect in the commercials.

Ok, let's not point any fingers now. There is good and bad in every natiionality. Moreover consider that in order for someone to sell drugs there have to be a buyer. I'm not condoning with what the Jamaican man does, but there's always two side to a story

No one has said that she did not have a Spousal Permit and she was released, the Police did an investigation and felt that they had enough evidence to charge him with a very serious offence, so yes, I will take her word.

My2cents, Justice delayed is justice denied. Apparently, you too have gotten used to the run arounds that cost us all our valuable time. Do you actually live in The Bahamas, have interactions with people who have a job to do and take it seriously? If you do, you know the social tragedy of killing people's spirit with these aimless exercises. Ever try dealing with Dept of Inland Revenue? It seems the bigger problem is that when people get just a little bit of power, especially a uniform to put on, whether police, immigration, or security officer, they forget who they are and become larger than life. It seems that we have such low self esteem here that it is always better to keep others from doing the right thing, since we as a whole cannot manage to even help ourselves. Sad. Who can hold their head up while bringing children into a place of such backwards mentality?

OMG 6 years, 7 months ago on Mitchell: The world is watching

This is the man that flew first class, stayed in the best hotels and what does the average Bahamian have to show for it. For your information yes the world of investors does take careful note of government policies, stability, creditworthiness and comments expressed by fools like yourself. Have you not realized that this is not the only country with sun sea and sand and investors and tourists can choose umpteen more accessible and friendly places. Bahamian people are friendly no doubt but that is only if there are visitors to be friendly with, and that you idiot depends on people like you and government ministers putting out positive vibes. But there again your not really bothered are you,, when did you last go to a food bank, have your power turned off or lay on a gurney in A and E for two days?

Whatever your feelings on immigration this is a very worrying story. How can no one seem to know what has happened to this person. Even if he was deported surely immigration would have to go through the correct channels and have evidence to show this was the case. Government needs to very quickly clean up this mess in a transparent manner and then ensure it never happens again. This does not make the Bahamas look good. We should always follow the law of the land no matter what.

DonAnthony 6 years, 7 months ago on 'Disappointing' if Jean Rony deported

Absolutely unbelievable. Minister Symonette should resign and absent this the Prime Minister should fire him for incompetence. If this man was deported over two weeks ago how can he say publicly “Now, we do not normally deport these people, that is why this case is interesting and I will be disappointed if that is what happened.”

How as minister does he STILL not know what happened to this man and where he is? Heads need to roll, someone has to be held accountable for this incompetence. Otherwise nothing will ever improve with no accountability.

Fred Mitchell is an embarrassment to humanity. Every time Fred opens his mouth it hurts The Bahamas. Fred is where he is in the same way Trump is where he is. Voter stupidity and ignorance.
